some of the artworks will be displayed in our 3 days exhibition in Palermo
Art has always been a strong communication element in my family: both my grandmother and mother (and my great-grandmother before them) decided to use oils, watercolours, painting and pencils to quietly but vividly communicate with the world.
I do not know if this has been triggered by need, wish or something else but it is curious indeed, to notice that only the women from my mother’s family have internalised the language of visual art: they used this media to talk to each other and create an imaginary thread able to show them the path to follow toward the achievement of their objectives.
As in the famous Minotaur myth where Ariadne suggested Theseus to use a thread to escape from the Labyrinth, my mother passed onto me this legacy and - hoping for me to make good use of it - introduced me to the world of art. In a changing country as Italy, where patriarchy confines us in mental and physical labyrinths, I have observed the women in my life and chosen to share my art. I want to get in contact with who, like me, communicates via images and is eager to confront ideas without limiting others’ freedom.
