The book SOMW018 has been presented in Palermo this December (if you missed it read here), and in between I had the chance to meet around 500 students from the high-school Alessandro Volta (http://www.itivolta.pa.gov.it) in Palermo. The Equal Opportunity Commission, represented by Stella Bertuglia, gave me the space to meet the students 9am to 1pm on the 3rd and the 5th of December. Before the lectures I asked some student to pick from the book a story that strikes them, in which they can actually feel empathy. Empathy and active participation are very important when I build relationships, especially with those young. I met around 500 students in 2 day and I must say I really appreciated the participation of so many people, both teachers, students and janitors; we had the chance to engage debates and discussions about human trafficking, European and Italian contemporary politics, feminism, prostitution and migration. However, I hope for the same good level of cooperation with other schools around Europe.
